Top Five Pests in Orem, Utah

Six Brothers Pest Control appreciates all of our customers in Orem, Utah. When the phone rings in our office, we know someone needs help with one of five pests.

  1. Ants
  2. Cockroaches
  3. Mice
  4. Spiders
  5. Wasps and Hornets

Each of these pests creates a variety of problems for homeowners and businesses.

Ants: When a homeowner sees one ant, there are a thousand more he/she can’t see. The first reaction is to grab a can of insect spray, aim and shoot. You’ll be making a small dent in their population, and they will return. Six Brothers Pest Control understands ants.  Spraying just a few won’t do the job, find the nest and treat it properly. Once the nest is gone, they are gone. Making sure ants stay away can be tricky. We may want to set up additional visits to ensure the ants don’t return.

Cockroaches: They are the most adaptable creatures on the planet.

They don’t bite, but they make people’s skin crawl. These insects spread disease; staph, salmonella, and strep. https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/HealthyLiving/cockroaches

Their droppings and the skin they shed have been known to cause respiratory issues in the elderly and asthma attacks in younger children. Additionally, cockroaches smell, they give off an odor similar to mold. When they lay eggs, they do it in places that their odor will be absorbed. Clothes are one of their favorite places to hide their eggs.

Six Brothers Pest Control in additions to their treatments has a few suggestions to keep roaches from feeling at home in your house. Don’t leave piles of clothes on the floor. If you have leaking pipes, roaches enjoy those spaces, get the pipes repaired.  Spraying roach killer doesn’t always work. It is better to let the professionals take care of them.

Mice: These rodents can do serious damage to your home or business. Mice chew through wires that can cause a fire. They tear up bed linens, clothes, or anything that would make a soft nest for their young. The dropping they leave can end up in your food, clothing, and in your furniture.  Laying traps is dangerous and mouse pellets could be ingested by pets or crawling babies. Once again Six Brothers Pest Control will recommend some changes to your home after they treat it for mice. Empty trash cans frequently. Wash inside and out of dumpsters and move those same dumpsters away from your house. Eat only in the kitchen and clean up thoroughly after every meal. Keep the pet food out only as long as necessary. These steps along with occasional treatment will keep mice at bay.

Spiders: Unless you have black widows, tarantulas, or far too many spiders to feel comfortable with you don’t need a pest control company.

Just a few spiders in your home or business are more helpful than hurtful. They kill the insects you don’t want in your home. If you have venomous spiders in your house then pest treatment is warranted.  Neither black widows nor tarantulas have enough venom to cause death but, if you have young children they may be in danger. Let Six Brothers Pest Control take care of the problem.

Wasps and Hornets: No one wants to get stung but, wasps and hornets help devour unwanted insects in your garden. Some of these flying insects build their nests high up in trees. Others build nests under eaves and in garages of homes. These places provide shelter from high winds and rain. Nevertheless, some people are allergic to wasps and hornet stings, sending them into anaphylactic shock, a dangerous reaction to the proteins in the sting. Homeowners and business owners alike need to rid their properties of these stinging pests.

Six Brothers Pest Control knows all these pests can be detrimental to your health, home, and office. We can take care of the problem.
