Spiders can be terrifying to many people. Their eight legs, multiple eyes, and potentially poisonous bites makes them a pest that many people fear. Even if spiders don’t frighten you, chances are good that you do not want them in your house. There are various methods of getting rid of spiders that may involve regular cleaning schedules, sealing the exterior of your home, decluttering, and professional pest control treatments.
What kind of spiders are found in Raytown?
There are a wide variety of spiders found in the area including: orb spiders, jumping spiders, garden spiders, and wolf spiders. While these and most other common spiders in Raytown are harmless, there are also two poisonous species that can cause potentially serious side effects, the brown recluse and the black widow.
Brown recluses in Raytown are typically about the size of a quarter with light brown bodies and a dark brown violin shape on their back. This unique marking inspired the nickname “fiddleback” spider. Brown recluses are active hunters and eat ants, flies, other spiders, etc. A bite from a brown recluse can cause chills, fever, pain, and in severe cases necrosis (or death) of surrounding tissues.
Black widows are probably the most easily identifiable spider in Raytown and throughout the world. These spiders are shiny and black with a red (or orange) hourglass figure on the underside of its abdomen. Black widows are commonly found in wood piles, crawl spaces, garages, and storage areas. Symptoms of a black widow bite might include nausea, vomiting, headaches, sweating, and breathing difficulties. A bite from either of these poisonous spiders should be seen by a medical professional.
